Barb is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Registered Play Therapist/ Supervisor, and Certified Trauma & Loss Clinical Specialist. She is completing the advanced level of a three year program with the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. She is a member of the National and Minnesota Association of Play Therapy, The National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children and The Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.

Barb’s treatment focuses on all aspects of the self, including; verbal, emotional, physical, social and spiritual. She has been trained in mind/body techniques to aid the healing process. Her office space offers a cozy atmosphere and confidentiality. She is located within minutes of schools and shopping.

Barb is a stress, trauma and attachment specialist. She uses a nurturing, family-based approach with children and their parents/caregivers. She focuses on the developmental needs of the child and incorporates Experiential Play, Sensory activities and Cognitive Behavioral methods in her treatment of children. She primarily works with children from infancy through age ten.

Play Therapy is Helpful for Children who:

• Struggle with anxiety and fears
• Have difficulties with transitions
• Have been adopted
• Are dealing with issues of loss
• Have fears associated with illness or hospitalization
• Are dealing with parental separation due to military deployment
• Have witnessed Domestic Violence
• Have experienced serious accidents or disasters
• Are in foster care
• Are dealing with parental conflict or divorce
• Have been traumatized (Physical, Sexual or Emotional abuse)
